New for Nirint – Finesse

The general cargo ship finesse arrived this morning and anchored for cfia moth inspection. Once it passed, she tied up at pier 31.
Part of the weekly rotation for nirint, she will unload bagged nickel from Cuba.

Vortuta – we know where it is.

The Lithuanian registered general cargo ship Vortula anchored in the inner harbour. She was built in 1998 in Indonesia, and is Owned and Managed by Lithuanian Shipping. She was Previously known as Theodor Oldendorff until 2006.

Her last known location is Trois Rivers Quebec.

Regarding the name, Wikipedia tells us  “Voruta may have been the capital city of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Kingdom of Lithuania during the reign of king Mindaugas in the 13th century. Voruta is mentioned briefly only once in written sources and its exact location is unknown”

Atlantic Navigator – Quick stop at Fairview Cove

The Atlantic RO-RO lines vessel Atlantic Navigator made a brief stop this morning at the west pier of Fairview Cove. She tied up around 9am, arriving from Immington UK, and sailed at 11 for Baltimore.

She was built in Germany in 1992, and is owned by Baltic Mercur of Russia. She is currently runs between the Baltic and the North American east coasts. Outfited with Cranes, and a RO-RO Ramp, she is a versatile vessel.

Maccao Straight to Anchor.

The General Cargo Ship Macco Straight, running for Melfi, arrived a day early today  from Lisbon Portugal. She is scheduled to tie up at pier 41/42 tomorrow.  Those piers are currently occupied by ZIM Constanza and Ernest Hemingway, so she will spend the day at anchor in the Inner harbour.

Throco Svendborg basin break.

The general cargo vessel Throco Svendborg spent the weekend anchored in the basin, and sailed this morning. She arrived from Baie Comeau, but gave no destination when she sailed.

Built in 2008, by Honda Heavy Industries in Japan, she is registered in Hong Kong, and was one of the first newbuilds for the Thorco Fleet, and is named after the town where Thorco Shipping was founded in 2003.
