Oceanex Ends Service to Corner Brook

Oceanex vessels will no longer be sailing to Corner Brook NF. Cargo will be delivered to St. John’s and shipped over land. The company sighted dropping traffic levels and subsidized competition from Marine Atlantic as the cause.

Oceanex Runs 3 vessels, Connraiga and Oceanex Avalon sailing from Montreal, and Oceanex Sanderling from Halifax.

Cabot to Pier 9 A

With Oceanex Connaigra back in service after some propeller work in Boston, Cabot can once again go into layup. Cabot normally operated the Montreal – St. Johns route, and is being replaced by the Connaigra. When displaced by Connaigra’s arrival, she laid up in Montreal. it appears she will now spend some time at Pier 9a in Halifax.

Oceanex Connaigra for repairs

 

Oceanex’s new vessel pulled in To port yesterday and tied up at pier 25. She is reported to have an issue with one of her propellors. It is unclear if repairs can be made at pier 25 or if she will require the nova dock.

The Connaigra runs the Montreal to St Johns route and passes 2 dry docks large enough to accommodate her Davie shipyard and Group Ocean. 

Oceanex Updates

Oceanex Connaigra Arrived last night, Discharged her cargo, and Sailed for Montreal this morning.
Oceanex Sanderling is due to depart the Nova Dock tomorrow Morning.
Oceanex Cabot does not appear on the schedule after it completes its next voyage.

Oceanex Connaigra at Pier 21

Oceanex Connaigra spent yesterday tied up at Pier 21. She Hosted media Tours in the morning, and a commissioning reception in the Evening. She moved to anchor at 9pm, and will returned to load at Pier 36 when Fusion Autoport after the PCTC Aida Departed for pier 31 around 11am.

First Call for newbuild Oceanex Connaigra

the new build Oceanex Connaigra Arrived in Halifax on her maiden revenue voyage and tied up at Autoport. She Was recently delivered from the builders in Germany, and is filling in For Oceanex Sanderling who will be heading to the NovaDock on the 13th. After Sanderling’s work period, Oceanex Connaigra will work on the Montreal route with Oceanex Avalon and Cabot.

Oceanex Confirms Connaigra to fill in for Sanderling.

VOCM News in Newfoundland reports that:

The Oceanex Connaigra has finished sea trials successfully in Germany and is expected to arrive in St. John’s next weekend. It will stay for a few days before sailing to Halifax to work that service while the Oceanex Sanderling completes a short dry dock.

The vessel will then move on to Montreal, where it will provide a fixed weekly service between the ports of Montreal and St. John’s.

UPDATE: Oceanex Connaigra is tentatively scheduled to make her first stop in Halifax on October 10th.

Oceanex Connaira now Registered in Canada.

With news that Oceanex Sanderling is due for a work period in October, Oceanex Connaira was quietly registered in Canada on Sept 20, And is currently conducting trials. Its possible she may make it to Canada in time to take over for the Sanderling.

 Oceanex Connaigra is being built by Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft mbH & Co. KG of Germany, And was Announced in October 2012 She Launched May 31 2013.
