USCGC Reliance visits Halifax
The US Coast Guard Cutter Reliance arrived for a visit this morning. She will be joined tommorow by the USNS Grapple returning from Quebec.

Shelburne Ship Repair Update
Shelburne Ship Repair has been busy with a number of contracts from both the public and private secotors. She recently completed work on the CCGS Earl Grey. She has also recently performed work on some larger cargo vessels, that formerly would have likely been serviced at the Halifax Shipyard with the Scotia Dock II.

In January 2010, the province invested $8.8 million in Irving Shipbuilding’s $16.6-million project to upgrade the marine railway and wharf, and build a new cradle. Since August 2011, Shelburne Ship Repair has won 16 contracts from 10 different customers.
Two of those contracts this spring were to complete repairs on cargo vessels MV Umiavut and MV Avataq, owned by Nunavut Eastern Arctic Shipping. The shipyard’s latest contract is to repair HMCS Shawinigan, which will keep workers busy into November.
Shelburne Ship Repair can work on vessels up to 229 metres long, and the new marine railway is capable of lifting two vessels weighing up to 4,200 tonnes each.
Tug Eileen McAllister for the Scotia Dock II
The Tug Eileen McAllister arrived this morning and tied up next to the Scotia Dock II. As previously reported, She will be towed to florida for scrapping.
No departure date has been set, But with relatively good weather and low tides, expect a departure with in the next few days.
Upcoming Port Visits
USNS Grapple Returns for a brief visit on the third. She was recently recovering remains from a US Seaplane that crashed during the Second World War.
The USCGC Reliant is due for a visit tomorow on the Second.
Coriolis II has returned
The Survey vessel Coriolis II returned to Halifax Yesterday and tied up in Bedford. The Jetty in Bedford can support vessels this size, but it is a rare birthing location for a commercial Vessel.

Fate of the Scotia Dock II
It Was announced that the bulk of a 300 million dollar loan for improvements to the halifax shipyard would be for the replacement of the Scotia Dock II. It appears that the First step – the Scrapping of the Scotia Dock II is underway.
It was noticed that Her Canadian Registry (Yes, the Scotia Dock II is a vessel) Was closed on June 22 of this year. In more recent weeks, her name has been painted over, and most recently her on board cranes appear to be in the process of being decommissioned.
CBC News reported that the Scotia Dock II has been sold to Southern Recycling, a metal recycler on the Gulf of Mexico. The Chronicle Herald also reports that the Scotia Dock II was due to depart within 30 days (of June 22) once she was made seaworthy enough for the trip to the gulf. UPDATE: the Port reports the Tug EILEEN MCALLISTER is due tommorow, and shows the Kent Line agency as the vessels agent. Kent Line is an Irving Company. This suggests departure may be iminant.
Farley Mowat
The Farley Mowat is a vessel that belonged to the Sea Shepard Conservation Society. She was arrested for interfering with the seal hunt. after Sea Shepard failed to pay fines and bills accrued by the vessel, the court ordered her sold. She was sold, Spent a brief period tied up at woodside, and was then moved to Lunenberg where she has been ever since.
Her current plans are unknown.
