Seapike

The tanker SeaPike spent yesterday at anchor. She moved to imperial oil this morning after the departure of Apollon. Built in 2009, she is German Flagged, and arrived from New Orleans.

CCGS in the Basin

Sunday Saw CCGS Hudson and CCGS Sir William Alexander exercising with a CCGS Helicopter in the basin. the helicopter had left by the time I arrived, and the vessels were returning to BIO.

Cruise Season Has Begun

Its snowing today, but in another sure sign of spring, the First Cruise ship of the season arrived at pier 22 today. Amadea Tied up at 7:30am. Built in 1991, She is owned by V-ships Leisure, Cruises for Phoenex Reisen.  

She is on a 138 Day round the world itinerary, having depared Nice France December 20, 2014. She proceeded through the medertainian to the Suez Canal, Through Indonesia, Down to Malaysia,  New Zealand, South America, Through the Panama Canal, and now working her way up the coast.

She arrived from Boston, and will stop in Sydney tomorrow, Sailing for St John’s NL, then over to Europe, ending in Hamburg May 7.

Regal Princess was to be the first cruise ship of the year on the 19th, However her itinerary was changed due to Enroute weather. This appears to have been a repositioning cruise, from  Fort Lauderdale to Europe, where she will sail an 11 Day Scandinavia & Russia route.

Seperated after birth: Jim Kilabuk and Atlantic Tern

The Jim Kilabuk arrived over the weekend and tied up at Pier9. Built as Canmar Supplier IV in 1975 at the Yarrows yard in Esquimalt, She was intended to be used for Oil Exploration in the Beaufort Sea by Dome Petroleum. After that venture ended, she was sold to Northern Transportation, and took her current name in 1995.

UPDATE: Jim Kilabuk Moved to Jetty NA at Shearwater this morning. this suggests she’s doing work for the Navy. She shows Harbour Grace NL as her destination.

Sister Vessel Canmar Supplier II is a Halifax regular, now working for Atlantic Towing as Atlantic Tern. Though She has been modified, you can still see her original lines.

TransPine to The basin

The RORO cargo ship TransPine took to the anchorage in the basin over the weekend. She is reportedly working out fuel issues, and underwent a tank cleaning at pier 27.

From this angle, the Side Elevator doors are quite visible.

Sunlight ace at anchor under the clouds

The pure car truck carrier sunlight ace dropped the anchor at the inner anchorage today. Ot is Odd she did not go directly to autoport as there is currently nothing else tied up there.
UPDATE: CFIA Gypsy Moth Inspection. She moved to Autoport late in the afternoon.

Man in the Water off Peggys Cove

Reports are a 25year old male was swept off the rocks at Peggy’s Cove.
Local Fisherman, Halifax Emergency Services are on Scene, as is a RCAF Cormorant Helicopeter, and CCGS Sambro. It appears that CCGS Sir William Alexander and CCGS Louis St Laurent are joining the search.

UPDATE:  Sir William Alexander is there, Louis St Laurent has gone elsewhere.
