Second Hero Class Vessel Rolled Out. Corporal Kaeble V.C.

This past saturday also saw the rollout of the second Hero Class mid shore patrol vessel – The CCGS Corporal Kaeble VC. She will now be fited with her masts and External fittings prior to launch.

She was rolled out initially for painting on April 6. If the Private Robertson VC’s timelines hold true, She should be in the water Octoberish. (It was arround 6 months from paint to launch for the Robertson) Though i would expect the timelines to get shorter as each vessel is Built.

CCGS Martha L. Black in Halifax

the CCGS Martha L. Black also arrived this morning and tied up at BIO. Shes an odd sight in halifax, as she is Homported in Quebec City, and Normally works the St Lawerence river.

CCGS Private Robertson VC Launched

The first hero class mid-shore patrol vessel has been launched. Originally scheduled for 11:45, the launch we delayed by high winds and the need for an additional tug. Unlike Atlantic Condors Launch,  The Private Robertson was gently slid into the water,  stern first, and then moved to Pier 9B.

Tugs Atlantic Oak and Willow, as well as Dominion Diving Vessels were in attendance, as well as CCGS Sambro, Who came to watch.

Hero Class Mid Shore Patrol Vessels Rolling off the Line

Thursday brought the rollout of the Second Mid Shore Patrol Vessel, Corporal Kaeble VC. The First, Private Robertson VC, has been located outside the module shop for some time, as additional work is completed. She Has now been moved farther down the ways and tarpped to allow the next vessel to be painted.

There is no known date for the launch at the moment.

USCG Dependable

USCG Dependable Arrived this morning for a visit, and tied up at NB4, leaving the dock in the way.
She is likely here to help commemorate the 50th Annivarsary of the Canadian Coast Guard which was formed on January 26th 1962.

The Canadian Coast Guard officially came into existence, when the Honourable Leon Balcer, Minister of Transport in the government of Mr. John Diefenbaker, rose in the House of Commons and announced that the government had decided that the Department of Transport fleet of ships would, in the future, be known as the Canadian Coast Guard.

Home For Christmas

CCGS Earl Grey returned to Halifax on the 19th. She was previously undergoing a period of work, including Hull Painting at Shelburne Ship repair.

Shelburne Ship Repair was taken over By Irving shipbuilding, and underwent several Upgrades to accommodate larger vessels. Earl grey was one of the First vessels to be serviced at the newly refurbished yard.
