Silva Runs Into Trouble
Tonight the JRCC coordinated a response to the tall ship Silva of York Redoubt with 51 Persons on board. The vessel apparently lost power and required the assistance of a tug to return to port.
JRCC Tasked 3 CCGS Vessels and a 413Sqn Cormorant to assist.

Kometik for Bunkers
Once a regular sight in Halifax, the Shuttle tanker Kometik Anchored in anchorage 1 for bunkers. Shuttle tankers run oil from the Hibernia platform to refineries, and with Halifax no longer refining, the shuttle tankers had little reason to stop here.
SAR Exercises in Mahone Bay and Halifax this week
The Canadian Coast gurad is excercising this week in Mahone Bay. RCMP, DND, Coast Guard Auxiliary, United States Coast Guard, the French navy, fire departments from Chester and Mahone Bay, emergency measures organizations, paramedics and local ground search and rescue units are all taking part.
GuardEx14 will continue on Tuesday in Mahone Bay then move to Halifax Harbour on Wednesday. CCGS Sir William Alexander, CCGS G. Peddle S.C, CCGS Sambro, and USCGC Spencer have all been seen active in the area. French Participation is likely with Fulmar.

BBC Kimberly for Fairview Cove
today brought a brief stop for BBC Kimberley to Fairview Cove. Not trading as one of the lines, she is there likely to load or unload a Project Cargo. She is arriving from Norfolk. And tied up around 1PM.
Built in 2009, her cranes are rated at 250ton each, and she is classed as a multipurpose heavylifter. She can carry 628teu.
Update: So short was the stop, that the tug never left her side, and she sailed for Durban at 2:30.
Energy Pride Sails
After Spending over a month anchored in the basin, the Tanker energy pride moved to imperial oil last week and finally sailed for Montreal this Morning.
Celebrity Summit Spends the Night for repairs
Celebrity Summit was due to sail yesterday evening, but instead moved to anchorage one, then took a tug around 10 pm and went to Pier 33 for repairs. She sailed this Morning. Taking a tug suggests an issue with propulsion or steering.
Nunavik to sail Northwest Passage to China
it is perhaps ironic, that a few weeks after we find one of Sir John Franklin’s ships, lost while searching for the northwest passage, that the ice class bulk carrier Nunavik is sailing the route to reach China. They are offering daily progress updates on their website at http://www.fednav.com/en/voyage-nunavik
A new build for Fednav, She was built to serve northern nickle mines with out the need for icebreaker assistance. She put into Halifax on her delivery voyage. Fednav also runs the umiak 1, which was due to operate out of Halifax once the new concentrator in Newfoundland is built.
