#2 Launched, #3 Rolled out


Second Hero Class Mid Shore Patrol vessel, Caporal Kaeble VC was launched yesterday and is currently tied up at Pier 9. wasting No Time, The third Hero Class Corporal Teather CV was rolled out.


Unlike the first 2 vessels who are named after Army Victoria Cross Recipients, Corporal Teather was an RCMP Officer awarded the Cross of Valour, for rescuing 2 men from a capsized vessel in the Frasier river.

Intrest in Yarmouth Ferry

Various Sources have reported, and the Company has confirmed, that P&O Ferries is interested in the Yarmouth Route. P&O Operated various Ferrys between the UK, Ireland and Europe, and Have experiance with both Fast (the Cat) and Conventional ferries.

Comments in the Chronicle Herald Piece from P&O seem to indicate they agree with what the ferry report recomended, and is very simalar to services they offer in Europe.

Next A4 Locomotive for the UK

The Train Geek pointed me to the Shipment of the second A4 Locmotive – The “Dominion of Canada”. It arrived in Halifax Yesterday from ExpoRail in Montreal, And will likely ship out on the  UK Bound ACL Vessel Next Monday.

As of this morning, the tender had been moved to a palet of some sort. It can be seen in the photos of The Previous A4 – the “Dwight D Eisenhower” which traveled via ACL August 27

Fairwell WEC Majorelle

The ex AFL New England  – now WEC Majorelle sailed today for Casablanca after perforoming a compass swing at anchorage 1.

She was sold at auction to cover unpaid bills of her former operator American Feeder Lines. She has a contractual deadline to be out of port by Tomorow as a condition of Sale.

Before and After

Those who frequently drive down Quinpool Rd near the Armdale rotaray probably recall seeing a sailboat moored in the arm year round. It was safe to assume that this vessel had been abandoned, untill last fall when a tarp appeared on her.

This August, She Sunk.

Its possible she filled with rain water, though its more likely that a thru hull fitting gave out, or a hose split. The owner has apparently be located, and is responsible for salvaging the vessel.

VIETNAM EXPRESS has issues..

The Container Ship VIETNAM EXPRESS has been in Halifax since 0830 on September 8th. Given that container ships typically stop for a few Hours, there is some sort of issue going on.

Its possible/probable there is a mechanical issue, though it is also posible Vietnam Express has been detained due to Port State Control (Safety Issues) or a Stowaway Issue.

Eurodam Spends the Night

Holland America Lines Cruise Ship Eurodam spent the night in Halifax Last night. They arrived in Halifax early after skipping a stop in Newfoundland on the 10th due to the weather.
