Alex Thomson and Hugo Boss IMOCA 60 at RNSYS

Alex Thomson and his Hugo Boss Imoca 60 racing yacht arrived at the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron last night. built to compete in Distance off shore races – Thomson last ran the 2016 Vendee Globe. The yacht is built for single handed operation.

The Yacht will be making stops in Canada and America in June & July this year. The dates and stops are as follows: Montreal – 2nd – 4th June Toronto – 11th – 15th June Boston 1st – 3rd July New York – 10th – 15th July

 

Thompson is probably best known outside sailing circles for his Hugo Boss Promotional work Which featured climbing the mast while the boat was heeled, Standing on the Keel, And wakeboarding behind the boat.

Grande Halifax – Grimaldi PCTC Named after Halifax

 

The Grimaldi Groups new Pure Car Truck Carrier  (PCTC) will be christened this afternoon at a ceremony at Autoport. The Grande Halifax was delivered earlier this year, and is named after the Port of Halifax. Grimaldi Group is the Parent of ACL, who’s Container/RO-RO vessels have been calling in Halifax since the beginning of Containerized Service.

Norwegian Bliss – Maiden Call on Maiden Trip

the Norwegian Bliss made a call today, on her first trip, crossing the Atlantic, bound for New York from Southampton, via the Azores and Halifax. She will then Relocate to Miami, and cruse to LA via the Panama Canal, before taking up a regular schedule Cruising Seattle to Alaska, moving to the Caribbean for the winter.

Hercule heads south.

The tug Hercule, now flying the Jamican Flag, for Jamican Owners put in to Pier 9 this afternoon on her way south. The former Groupe Ocean Tug, Ocean Hercule, was sold in November, Renamed in her home port of Sorel-Tracy, and then moved to Montreal for the winter.

Nore For Wilson’s Fuels?

the Tanker Nore arrived this morning and tied up at Pier 9, where Wilson’s Fuels has a connection to their tank farm on barrington street, Though she is likely not carrying a cargo.

A small tanker,  she was built in 2007, and arrived from Ceuta Spain. A sister ship to Algoma Dartmouth, Shipfax is reporting that she is bound for the west coast under Canadian ownership as AS Aquarius. if you look closely, you will notice her name has been painted out on the hull, both forward, and on the stern.

Atlantic Sun

Atlantic Sun spent last evening at the east end of Fairview Cove, working the RO-RO Decks. She moved back to the Western Berth after Crete I sailed, to work containers, and sailed late morning Saturday.

Interlink Levity at anchor

The Bulker Interlink Levity arrived yesterday and spent today at anchor for hull cleaning and Bunkers. she is scheduled to sail early afternoon tomorrow. She was built in 2014, and arrived loaded from Fairless Hills, a suburb of Philadephia, likely carrying coal into the lakes, for steel making.

Harbour Hopper

Though it has few natural enemies, this Harbour Hopper has fallen victim to the Ruggles, and is dragged back to its lair to be disemboweled
