VIA14 Turning at Halterm. the Ocean arrives at Halifax station nose first, and departs nose first. there is a big loop around the halterm container terminal, which the train uses to turn around, and then back into the station to ready itself for departure.
The General Cargo ship Sara arrived yesterday form Poland with a load of rails for CN at pier 27.
Built in 2003, In the Netherlands, she flies the Dutch flag.

ACL’s First G4 vessel arrived after 10pm lastnight, worked overnight, and sailed before 7am
Alas, I was unable to get any shots of her. She will be back in about a week, on her eastbound leg back to europe. (Hopefully in Daylight)
ACL’s Second G4 Vessel, Atlantic Sail Arrives Friday late afternoon.
Next week brings the arrival of a couple of Notable Ships.
May 27 is the scheduled maiden arrival of Atlantic Sail for ACL. She is the second of the new G4 ships To arrive, in Halifax – The first Atlantic Star is now on regular rotation.
May 28 brings the CMA CGM Tage. She will be making her first call in halifax on the Columbus Loop. With a capacity of 9365 TEU She, beats the current record holder, the USAC ZAMZAM at 9036TEU, and will set the record for largest container ship to call in Halifax. Besides besting the size record by ~330TEU, she will be the first ship to call here with the island superstructure set forward of amidships. The largest classes of container ships are built this way to ensure visibility forward over the deck load of containers.
Mid shore Patrol Vessel CCGS Caporal Kaeble VC is tied up at Sackville landing today. This is a good opertunity to see one of these MSPVs up close.
Kaeble is normally stationed in Quebec, and like the other inland based vessels has taken on RCMP markings.
She was vessel #2 in class and was accepted by the Feds on Novemebr 10.2010
Sunday started with the arrival of Atlantic Conveyor at midnight. She was worked throughout the day, and sailed in the evening.
Her days are Numbered, as Fleet mate Atlantic Compass sailed from Antwerp for the breakers in Alang India on May 11th, Joining Atlantic Companion. Companion went to the breakers in sept 2015, and was replaced by the New Atlantic Star. Atlantic Compass’ replacement is Atlantic Sail, whos maiden Halifax Call is Sunday May 22. Atlantic Concert and Atlantic Cartier are still operating .
Also making an appearance was OOCL Italy on the AZX (Asia Suez Express) Service. An S-class Vessel, she is rated at 5888 TEU and is the former Vietnam Express.
The herring fleet started arriving earlier this week. First off was a new “dual venture” with Lady Mellisa and Margaret Elizabeth no1 arriving today.
The fleet is an annual sighting in early May as they follow the fish north
The US Coastguard vessel Neah Bay is due in port this morning, tying up in the dockyard.
USCGC NEAH BAY (WTGB-105) is a 140 foot Bay-class Icebreaking Tug homeported in Cleveland, Ohio. Unit Missions include Icebreaking, Homeland Security Patrols, Light House Projects, Law Enforcement, and Public Affairs. The USCGC NEAH BAY serves throughout the entire Great Lakes system.
These ice breaking tugs have recently spent the summer on the east coast and return in the fall.

The Premier announced today, that tall ships would be part of the province’s Canada 150 celebration. Nova Scotia has been confirmed as a Rendez-vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta venue and the start of the final leg of the race.
An outport program is being developed that will see some of the ships visiting several coastal communities in the province. Government will provide $1.5 million over two years to help those communities welcome visitors and tall ships to their ports.
Rendez-vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta is a 7,000-nautical mile transatlantic race, visiting six countries. Nova Scotia’s sailing ambassador Bluenose II will also take part in the tall ships visit.
Dates for events and specific location of visits by the ships to other Nova Scotia ports will be confirmed over coming months
